Branches

I live in a world
that is drowning in pain.
No one I know
has ever had gain.
While everyone pays
attention to the stage,
they all exploit those
who earn minimum wage.
And though I work hard,
I constantly suffer.
But they perch on high branches;
our voices, they buffer.
They don't care that I have needs.
They see my kind as a growing weed.
And from those high branches
they gibe and they jeer.
Their words make me weep.
My heart's heavy with drear.
But I have something to say,
you hear?
Kings feed off their lies.
They're filled with fear.
For they wear masks of glee,
you see.
They're constantly reminded
of you and me.
They know,
they know,
we are always their foe...

And from that tree,
so grand, so tall,
those branches they live on
will fall
and fall.
From these branches once so high,
there will be a terrible cry.
For no one can fly
away from good.
We must remain strong
for our brotherhood.

So I tell you now
what to go out and do.
You must fight for what's right
and fight for what's true.
